Marriages are essential in growing the Catholic Faith, and we want to walk with you during your engagement to help prepare you to enter into a good and holy Marriage.   

Marriage at St. Jude

The Diocese of Shreveport requires that marriage arrangements be made no less than 9 (nine) months in advance of the marriage date.

• Contact the church office or email Peggy Moran at peggy.moran@stjudebossier.org at least nine months prior to the date you are requesting for your wedding, to schedule a meeting with our Pastor. (In order to schedule your wedding date, you must meet with Father to establish availability of your requested date.)
• Once the wedding date is established, a deposit will be required.
• The couple will complete a FOCCUS questionnaire, which is not objective, but assists the pastor in evaluating the needs of the couple in order to help them transition more effectively into married life.

  Teaching on the Sacrament of Marriage 

Marriage is a covenant established by God and further blessed by Jesus Christ in which a man and a woman join in a free, total, faithful, and fruitful union for the sake of one another. It is free because love can only be given freely; it is total because love demands that husband and wife give themselves to one another totally; it is faithful because spouses must be true to one another; it is fruitful because it is designed to produce children, the “supreme gift of marriage”  CCC 1652.
